We visited this with our Italian foreign exchange student. She picked it out for her dining day. It was awesome and very authentic. The owner is from Italy and the food is amazing. Loved it. Our student loved it to. I would recommend.

My favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Can’t stop coming back! They want you to feel welcome. Shake their hands and say thanks, they will remember you!For reference, I’ve lived here about ten years and have been to every Italian restaurant in north beach. This is the spot.

A cozy friendly environment with the most delicious pastas and fair price! I will go there any time I’m in San Fransisco. 100% recommended.

Piccolo Forno is right across from the Italian Homemade Company. Just tried a slice of their Pizza Piccolo Forno that is thin sliced with olive, eggs, artichoke, tomatoes and tuna. It was good, but would have been more tasty if it were hot right out of the oven.Would suggest using paper plates instead of a thick pizza box since I'm just getting a slice.

The food was simple but great. This is the best place I have found for crispy pizza. We got a big salad and Vegetarian pizza and out was enough for 2 people and only cost $25.00. Great deal.

The people who are working this place are very kind. I ordered the lasagna and it was very hearty and very tasty. However the wait for me and my friends' food was somewhat long. I think the food is definitely worth it.

🎯So grateful for the perfection of things sometimes🤪Stumbled into Piccolo Forno in such a serendipitous and synchronistic way. I’d been driving all day and wishing for some good Italian food, gave up on the idea of dinner at all because I was running late for my show and it was right at the time-edge when it’s sacrileg to go into a restaurant that’s near closing. While searching for a parking spot for the event I was attending I ended up three blocks up the road ‘lo and behold’ there was an open parking spot right in front of Piccolo Forno. Peeked in the door to feel the vibe and they welcomed me with gracious heart and made me the most beautiful salad and artichoke stuffed raviolis. Beyond any picture my imagination would’ve come up with.... So very very good!!! ~Thank you for the kindness and fantastic food, Piccolo Forno!✨🌟⭐️💫

The place to go if you want pasta or pizza. I took my favorite plate: penne ala Arabiata. The sauce was as authentic as you can get. The other plates looked great and I will definitely recommend anything on the menu. You can bring your own wine, there is a liquor store a block up. Try the lemon sorbet it a traditional treat that help digest - perfect with an espressos.

A cute nice little Italian restaurant that has really good food that's unlike any other! The fettucini Alfredo was light and not heavy at all, leaving you wanting more. Highly recommend if you're in the San Francisco area and in the mood for good Italian food!

Was walking thru little Italy and came across this place. Had a little but of a wait due to a couple large parties taking up all the tables. The food was more than worth the wait. Homemade gnocchi and bread were delicious. The guys working there were so kind and friendly. Even gave us a free dessert for having to wait so long. Would recommend to everyone.

Warm atmosphere, volume of the music is low enough to have comfortable conversation. Pizzas were great, full of flavor and also pretty big! This is my new favorite in North Beach!

This place is awesome, I discovered it recently walking through north beach. The pizza tastes straight out of Italy, and I was just there for 2 weeks last year eating pizza practically every day. They focus on a Roman style of pizza I believe, it’s thin and crispy. I’ve had the sausage and mushroom, and the prosciutto & arugula. Both were fantastic, today I had something similar to a focaccia sandwich, I went with the owners suggestion and it turned out to be awesome. Super crispy focaccia dough layered with prosciutto, & mozzarella on the interior. This is the kind of restaurant that you can’t go wrong with what you order, they really know what there doing & I highly recommend it!

This delightful restaurant is popular with locals and tourist alike. The food is fantastic, prepared with attention and passion. The service is attentive and professional, but also warm and friendly. Don't be scared off by their lack of alcohol; BYOB and consider it a discount (they will gladly provide wine glasses and open and pour your bottle.) Located on Columbus it has a convenient, yet quiet location. How Michael Bauer (SF Chron food critic) missed this place in his 'favorite North Beach restaurants' article is a mystery to all of us who cherish this neighborhood gem.

Perfectly cooked pasta and fresh veggies in the salad. What else would you expect from an Italian restaurant? And they even speak Italian, which is a rarity now

Great Pasta. A lot of people were here when we visited which already says a lot about the quality of food here. We had the spaghetti with meatballs and the carbonara. The meatballs had a great taste to them while we felt that the carbonara lacked the bite. The carbonara didn't have the flavor that we liked maybe due to a lack of pepper or the lack of saltiness of the guancale. We'd come back here but not for the carbonara. Service was great too!

Piccolo Forno is a tribute to yesteryear San Francisco. Growing up in the neighborhood, I remember streets filled with dialects, smells of warm kitchens across Columbus Avenue, us neighborhood kids blocking off side streets to play. All of this can be found once again on each of the plates at Piccolo Forno.Today, North Beach is almost all but heavy boards hanging over former storefronts, sidewalks filled with uninspired tourists, and buses exposing the desire to look out the window at people (but not join!). But on certain tables in certain restaurants, you can taste the homeland of Italy. There are very few places left within San Francisco's North Beach where you can sit through an entire delicious meal and hear local Italians both young and old exchanging conversations in their regional dialect.Piccolo Forno does homemade and does it well. While the decor may say modern, casual stopover, Giuseppe's Piccolo Forno should be your North Beach destination to eat, laugh, and come together.

One of the be best Italian restaurants in San Francisco that makes you feel like you’re in the heart of Rome! No photos (was too busy devoting my pasta) but will post in the next weeks.

Very good pizza. Would recommend it for lunch more so than dinner but both are very good. I would recommend this to anyone. But I would make the menu a little bit bigger and make some changes.

We love this place. We came here the day it opened and have been back countless times, even though we moved out of the area. Simple, delicious food. Mostly pasta and pizza with a few salad starters and specials. They don’t serve alcohol but they do allow BYOB. Photo is of Torta della Nonna. We are everything else too fast to take photos. Authentic Italian, don’t come here looking for Chicken Parm or Fettuccini Alfredo.

The place could use an A/C, or maybe crack the door open (cuz it’s hot). The pizza and calzones are amazing. Authentic.

I hadn't really paid much attention to this place before, but one day when my bf and I were in North Beach with his friend, we decided to check it out (he's Italian and apparently has been meaning to come here for a while) - and I'm so glad we did! It was better than expected - I had honestly just expected it to be "okay", and it was way better than that. My bf and I shared a diavolo pizza (so good, though the crust was a bit too crispy for my liking) and the amatriciana pasta with red sauce (forgot the name unfortunately). His friend had the lasagna, which is always a good choice ;) It was weekend lunch and the atmosphere was pretty chill and not too loud, and the service was great. Will definitely be back soon.
